ABOUT US

File_011_edited.jpg

CEO & Founder Raymond Yap founded HeroesToo as an NGO in July 2010 after realizing his grandchildren might never experience the clean air, clear oceans, and abundant resources he once took for granted. We achieve our mission by empowering communities to take action, supporting the UN Global Goals on sustainability, global health, and climate change, and working as an affiliate member of the Hong Kong Business Environment Council.

To date, we have hosted school workshops, festivals, and a Sustainable Design Competition to foster community engagement and next-generation leadership. We currently run the Eco Film Festival for primary and secondary students, the Interdisciplinary Design Challenge for university students, and Sprouting workshops for all. Moving forward, we will develop HeroesToo Sustainability Clubs for Hong Kong schools, hold corporate workshops on sprouting and sustainability training, and provide an innovation hub for social innovators to develop products that impact our planet.

Executive Team

Raymond Yap, Founder & CEO

Raymond Yap - Founder & CEO

Raymond spent 30 years in business, primarily heading up the European operations for Wong’s International Ltd., a major electronics manufacturing group listed in Hong Kong. He also worked with Mondex, part of the Mastercard suite of smart card companies. In 1991 Raymond opted for early retirement, emigrating to Vancouver to enjoy life and prioritise spending more time with his family.  In 2003, he was diagnosed with melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer, and subsequently underwent life-saving surgery. This proved to be a cathartic experience for him, generating concern for his family particularly his young grandchildren with a realization that the best way to safeguard their future was to protect the environment. Eager to create lasting change, Raymond came out of retirement and applied his business acumen and experience to advocating environmental protection. To this end he set up HeroesToo Foundation Ltd., an eco-education charity and SolutionsToo Ltd., an environmental social enterprise. He is an affiliate member of the Hong Kong Business Environment Council.

Brought up in Hong Kong, she has a comprehensive understanding of local culture and issues towards change and the environment. She has worked for multinational corporations globally and brings her marketing and management experience to align HeroesToo goals with the community at large to help create the momentum for essential environmental impact.
